If there is one type of food I obsessed with… it’s donuts.  Ever since moving to DC, it’s always been a challenge to find good donuts.  Especially when all that really is available is krispy kreme or dunkin donuts.  However, for these past National Donut Day, I found myself in Chicago where I had the chance to try some of the most delicious donuts I’ve ever eaten.  After considerable research, it seems that there are two institutions that are decisively the best in the city: Do-Rite Donuts and Doughnut Vault.

Maui Eats: Mama’s Fish House

Mama’s Fish
799 Poho Place
Paia, HI 96779

Aloha everyone!  Sorry for the absence, but I just returned from beautiful and sunny Hawaii for one of my good friend’s wedding.  Although she got married in Oahu, we had to stop over in one of the neighboring islands.  After having such a great experience last year, we decided to go back to Maui and discover other parts of the island that we didn’t have the time to see last time we were in town.  However, there were some favorite spots that we had to revisit.  One of which was Mama’s Fish House.

DC Eats: Rose’s Luxury

Rose's Luxury

Rose’s Luxury
717 8th Street SE
Washington, DC 20003

Voted best New Restaurant by both Bon Appetit Magazine and GQ, Rose’s Luxury is located in DC’s Capitol Hill neighborhood  and has captured the attention of foodies and curious diners alike.  Even before all the media attention, people have been buzzing about this place with lines out the door before the restaurant even opened.  Since the restaurant doesn’t take reservations, patrons are lining out the door often 1 hour plus before the restaurant even opens.  Since, I knew the hype wasn’t going to die down anytime soon, the hubs and I finally decided to bite the bullet  and wait it out.  We should have planned it better, as fellow yelpers noted to come by 4 -4:30 PM, but we thought the cold day would deter diners from coming out.  Boy…were we wrong.  We arrived at 4:45 pm and the line was at least 100 people deep.  No lie.

DC Eats: Le Diplomate

Le Diplomate Foie Gras Parfait

Le Diplomate
1601 14th St. NW
Washington, DC 20009

After what seems to be a never-ending winter, this weekend seemed to be a nice reprieve with semi-decent weather and a great opportunity to go brunching!  Some of you might remember my post a while back about the California Lifting the Ban on  on Foie Gras.  Ever since then, I’ve been craving for foie gras.  So I decided to visit one of my favorite brunch spots in DC: Le Diplomate.  This place has such a quintessential french bistro feel and great food to match!  One of the items I’ve been eyeing for awhile is the Foie Gras Parfait…
