Pure Barre: Love Your Body

Pure Barre Bethesda Love Your Body Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  For a day filled with indulgences, I thought it would be a good idea to get workout in this morning to preemptively work off all the calories from cupcakes, chocolates, and who knows what else!  Luckily enough, Pure Barre was offering a joint event with Health magazine called Love Your Body.  To encourage people to show your body some love this Valentine’s Day, Pure Barre offered free classes today and gave out goodie bags filled with samples from various sponsors.   If you know me, I can never turn down a free class, so I signed myself up!  I attended the Pure Barre in Bethesda {4930 Hampden Ln, Bethesda, MD 20814}

Next Phase Group Ex

Next Phase
For the longest time, the space above Chipotle in Bethesda sat empty.  Not really sure what use to be there, but it was recently converted to a group exercise studio called Next Phase Group Ex.  Since it’s literally at the bottom of my apartment building, I really had no excuse to try this place out.  Next Group aim to provide effective group classes without the restraints of a membership.  They offer a variety of group classes from Yoga, Barre Benefits, Body Defined and Circuit Training.  But what really separated this place from other exercise studios was their TRX classes.  I first tried TRX at a Sports and Health and loved how the use of your body weight as resistance.

SoulCycle: Bethesda

Soul Cycle BethesdaI’ve allllwwaayyss wanted to try SoulCycle.  So when it finally decide to move into the DC region, I couldn’t wait to try it out.  In celebration of their grand opening in DC {2301 M Street NW, Washington DC 20037} back in August 2014, SoulCycle teamed up with Georgetown Cupcakes to offer special SoulCycle cupcakes that came with a free class with purchase!  So I snagged one of those up.  The coupon was due to expire at year-end and I’ve been so lazy to metro down to DC.  As luck would have it, the Bethesda location {4931 Elm Street, Bethesda, MD 20814} opened yesterday and it’s right down the street from my apartment!  So they graciously accepted my voucher!  So for any of you still left with these vouchers, looks like the Bethesda location is honoring them too!

A big Congratulations to Zengo Cycle for winning at DC’s 50 on Fire!  Ever year, In the Capital recognizes individuals and companies in DC’s top industries.  Everything from design, dining & retail, education to architecture, healthcare and medicine and of course Sports & Fitness!

After featuring Zengo in a recent blog post, I’m so excited that one of their star instructors, Teryn {rocking the pink tank top up above} agreed to do a Q&A to offer some insight into her workout routine and tell us what makes Zengo such a great place to spin!

Zengo Cycle

After giving you a four part series on Spinning, it wouldn’t be right for me not to share with you my favorite spin studio, Zengo.  I’ve been going here pretty much since I moved to DC and although I’ve tried other forms of working out (barre, pilates, Equinox, etc.), it still remains my primary workout routine.

Zengo currently has two studios: Bethesda and Logan Circle and is in process of opening up 2 more studios {Kentlands in Gaithersburg, MD and  Mosaic in Merrifield, VA}.  My review covers the studio I frequent most: Bethesda.   Continue reading
